This
is a short biography about the most important person in my life. It is about my
mom. Her name is Ruth Sibi. She was born in Papua, Jayapura on August 2, 1960.
Her father is Elias Sibi and her mother is Susana Puy. She had four brothers
and two sisters. In her family, she is the last daughter. Her family works as
farmers. That was why she spent her childhood in Jayapura especially at Koya
village.
When
she was born, there were many Dutch who came to her home. The reason was they heard that at Koya village
there was a new baby. They came and asked Susana to give the baby to them, but
she did not want to do so. They tried to give some money, however her mother
still did not. That was why; she has been living in Papua, Jayapura.
Time
flew very fast and she grew up as a beautiful girl. In her family, there is no
one who likes sport. They prefer to farm more than to do sport. She is
different. She likes both. When she was 10 years old, she has followed her aunt
to play volleyball at her village.
In
1974, she became a volleyball athlete in Papua. She started it when she was 14 years
old. She was a great volleyball athlete. She was a good player especially as a
set upper. There were many competitions that she followed. One of them is Porda
in Nabire.
In
1980, she represented Papua to follow a volleyball competition in Jakarta. At
the same time her family prohibited her to follow it. However, she is never dispirited
until she stopped playing volleyball in 2012.
On
February 5, 1997 she married a good man. His name is Marthen G Lawalata. At the
same time, they were grateful because God entrusted a handsome baby to their
family. The baby is Reiner JHG Lawalata Sibi. They became a good and complete
family because of the baby.
Besides
playing volleyball she still worked as a farmer. Although as an athlete, she
never forgot her family also. She was a good farmer and her husband in her
village. The evidence was she became a good farmer in farming chicken, and she
got a certificate from Philippine. The others were she together with her
husband became the best farmer that successful in farming vegetable and she
became a leader in an organization of farming flower.
Sadly,
when her son, Reiner entered kinder garden, he got phthisis. Therefore, she had
to work hard to earn some money to pay Reiner’s treatment. She had to think
hard because her husband worked outside Papua. Luckily, her son succeeds in his
treatment. The doctor said to Ruth that she did not have to pay the cost of the
treatment. Then, she brought her son leaving the hospital and never back again
because her son was never sick again.
In
January 2010, she moved with her family from Koya village to Jayapura city.
They moved because she and her husband wanted their son, Reiner had to get a
good education. They lived in Kayu Batu. Although she lived in the city, she
never gave up to make something new.
Now,
when she moved to Jayapura, there are many favors from God to her family. They are
happy family. Then, after she stopped playing volleyball, she is continuing her
farming about flower and chicken. Her husband still together with her to
improve and keep their livestock. And from their income, her son could study
until he got scholarship from their government to study outside Papua. Her
family is very good to other people wherever they are. There, people are very
respect to her and her family.
